Christmas time is here...What I want for Christmas? [Dec. 9th, 2009|01:17 am]

That's an easy answer I want to bring some happiness into the life of my friend Shi and help her family have a wonderful Christmas.

The last year and a half my friend has had some major losses in her life. Last year in November she lost her Grandmother at the age of 91 after years of being in a coma she finally passed on. Than to her and her family's shock and heartbreak she lost her beloved father on January 19, 2009 of pancreatic cancer. He had been diagnosed in December and passed on in January.

Since the passing of her father things have been a struggle emotionally and financially. They are missing such a huge part of their hearts and yet they are still trying to make a go.

I would really like to ask this amazing community to help her, grant a few of her wishes. Any of these wishes can be used stuff; it does not have to be new.

Thank you for helping me make a few of her wishes come true.

1. YourStory 37-5000 Book Binder and Laminator (Her mother)

After seeing it on TV she and her mother really want this.

2. A wii remote and nunchuck (Her Nephew)

3. Ornaments

This year she is getting her own tree. But here's the problem all the ornaments is her family's ornaments so her tree is going to be a bit hare. So anything that would help her out would be cool. I think she would love anything you have to give. Even handmade ornaments would be something she would love.

She loves hallmark ornaments, she tries to buy one once a year. But she would be happy if she can have a few this year. If you got any lying send it her way. She loves all Hallmark ornaments. I think she has the happy birthday Harry ornament she bought in October. I know she would love any past Harry Potter or any a Christmas story ornaments.

Novelty and funny ornaments would make her day. She just saw a yoda ornament at target but someone picked up the last one before she could scoop it up.

4. Buffy the vampire Slayer action figures

The only Buffy or Angel action figure she has is the 12" Vampire Willow and Welcome to the Hellmouth Darla Figure. I think Willow and Darla should have some friends :P Any size and it can be used I know she would love it anyway.

5. All things Harry Potter

She is a huge Harry Potter fan and anything Harry Potter from a scarf to a sorting hat would make her smile.

6. Weasley sweater tree ornaments

Is it possible for someone to knit her a few Weasley sweater ornaments for her tree?
To find the pattern for the mini sweaters google Weasley sweater ornaments pattern. Thanks.

7. Hogwarts crest tree ornaments from thenoblecollection.com

This is her dream ornaments.

8. All things Buffy the Vampire Slayer

Anything and everything Buffy the vampire slayer. She is a huge fan since the fandom started and even now years after they show ended she still loves it.

9. Harry Potter action figures

She loves Harry Potter and action figures so any Harry Potter action figures I know she would love. Points if it's a Draco Malfoy or Luna Lovegood action figure.

10. Check out her Amazon List.

Scan through it who knows you may be able to grant something.

Our magazine would love some help with our holiday gift drive [Dec. 7th, 2009|07:11 pm]

Everyone - Synchronized Chaos Magazine (which is online at http://www.synchchaos.com) is sponsoring a holiday drive for the Ford family, whom I've personally known for years. They have periodically submitted work and contributed to our magazine - some of Kristie's writing is already live for our upcoming December issue. The children are talented vocalists and graphic artists, and the mother has serious writing ability and I continually encourage her to go professional, as much as she can from home.

The two teenage children live with their elderly grandmother, as Kristie (the widowed mother) lost custody of them as she could not properly care for them due to her illnesses (melanoma skin cancer, narcolepsy, ADD, and the legally disabling mental illness of Delusional Disorder.) Kristie receives $860 a month disability income, $400 of which goes to her rent, and she sends as much as possible of the rest to her mother and her children. She's survived several mentally and physically abusive relationships and is also dealing with court costs and legal issues as a result of these.

There aren't too many resources in her area to help low income families...what does exist in San Rafael is targeted towards another very poor area of town, not where they live.

Kristie has a teenage boy (16 years old) and a teenage daughter (15 years old) and three nephews and nieces: a five year old boy, a six year old girl, and a six month old baby girl.

Food and gas money is a struggle, and she's gone hungry several times in the past few months. They cannot afford anything special for the holidays. So, our magazine staff is putting together a Christmas gift package for the family, and I'm inviting all my professional colleagues to contribute. This is our holiday tradition...every winter we pick our neediest contributing writers/artists and host a donation drive for them with their consent.

She gave out her address for me to privately distribute...but I can also pick up and deliver any gifts or donations, so if you'd like to help, please respond and let me know and let me know where you are.

Wishlist for a friend [Dec. 13th, 2006|01:39 pm]

I am looking for a Secret Santa for my disabled friend's two children, niece, nephew, and a young family friend. The family has fallen on hard times this year after she lost her husband and became even more sick than she was before. I'll provide my friend's address upon request.

Thank you very much for your time and attention, here are a few thoughts from my friend about what the children might like:

Boy, age 13, friend's son. [Size large men’s shirt, 101/2 – 11 men’s shoe, size 34, 30 men’s pants]. He probably would prefer to get some kind of drawing stuff or some kind of toy for a teenager. He loves Bart Simpson (no beer stuff though). He also likes to light candles in my Mom’s room for her. He might enjoy a few white or turquoise neat candles. He loves to draw, he loves the computer. He’d like learning or education computer software or something. He has a great sense of humor and loves to laugh and make people laugh too. Both my son and daughter love to act.

Girl, age 12, friend's daughter. [Size medium tops, 81/2 – 9 women’s shoe, size 6 women’s pants]... My daughter loves that bunny you see on clothing. The bunny that says those cute little sayings, you know. She also loves Sparkly clothes and says that’s all she wants this year (sparkly clothes). She is mature for her age and extremely intelligent. She is also very wholesome and dresses conservatively.

Boy, age 15, friend of my friend's son. He probably would prefer to get some kind of toy for a teenager. He loves cartoons and he used to like bugs.

Girl, age 4, friend's niece. This is my niece, my younger sister’s little girl. She is extremely mature for her age]... She loves make up and dressing up. She loves to look beautiful. She hates naptime. She has a very short attention span, even for her age. She loves Dora the Explorer and some of the other popular cartoons out for little kids. She is a little genius.

Boy, Age 3, friend's nephew. He is an adorable little boy, an only child. His Mother is a 2nd grade teacher.

LOL! I had a dream a few weeks ago that someone asked me what I wanted for Christmas. I said "Gary Numan and a magical hat that makes me fly". I woke up smiling.

HELP!

Now keep in mind that I'm a college student. I've been with my BF for four months now, and Christmas is coming up, and I'm stuck on what to get him. Any ideas would be wonderful. LoL With Finals and everything coming up, my brain is sucked dry of all creativity.

Thank you in advance

Shopping for Grandma Mickey [Dec. 3rd, 2004|06:43 am]

Growing up in my household we were taught not to be greedy and not to ask a lot. Well now things have changed and nobody knows what to get for anybody else. And christmas lists are lists of suggestions instead of demands. However, there is always the problem of Grandma Mickey. When anybody asks her what she want's she says, "Oh I don't need anything, having my family is more than enough for me." However, she is such a wonderfulf person we all want to get her something to let her know we love her.

Hence the problem, what do you buy for Grandma Mickey? I have been sent as a spy to find out what she needs or would like. And, it's easier than I thought to find something for someone if you just spend a little time with them. Her vcr doesn't always work. She loves coffee. She thinks round tables are pretty. For goodness sake, she hopes she never gets another pair of pajamas for christmas. She want's to do some canning next summer but she doesn't have a big enough pot. Little things will pop up in a conversation with someone if you just take the time to listen.

And now for something completely different.Collapse )
